Why This Nigerian Health Blog Exists
We’re here because most nutrition and wellness advice wasn’t built for Nigerians.
It assumes you have a Whole Foods budget, a personal chef, and access to ingredients you can’t even find in your local market. Meanwhile, you’re out here eating amala, surviving on Indomie during busy weeks, and treating garri like the love language it is.
I started this health and nutrition blog because I was tired of watching Nigerians try to force themselves into diets designed for people who’ve never seen a pot of egusi in their lives.
You deserve wellness advice that starts from your plate – not someone else’s.
Meet the Nutritionist Behind the Blog
I’m Onome, a Nigerian nutritionist, health writer, and the voice behind Your Food Police, one of the few nutrition and wellness blogs created specifically for Nigerians.
Here’s what I came with:
- BSc in Human Nutrition & Dietetics – University of Ibadan
- MSc in Public Health Nutrition & Community Nutrition – University of Ibadan
- Years of experience in health content creation, editorial operations, and evidence-based nutrition communication
I didn’t just study nutrition in theory. I studied it because I wanted to understand why so many Nigerians are getting sick from what we eat, and what we can actually do about it without pretending we’re all going to start eating quinoa.
How I Approach Nutrition Advice for Nigerians
The way I work is simple. I start with what you already eat.
I don’t shame you. I don’t hand you a meal plan full of foods you’ve never heard of. And I never forget that you have a budget, a job, a life, and a plate of jollof you’re not giving up.
Everything on this Nigerian wellness blog is:
- Evidence-based – rooted in actual nutrition science, not TikTok trends
- Culturally relevant – built around Nigerian foods, eating habits, and lifestyles
- Practical – advice you can act on this week, not next year when your life magically becomes stress-free
- Judgment-free – because the last thing you need is a nutritionist making you feel guilty for eating suya (okay, okay, maybe you’ll feel guilty just a little)
What You’ll Find on This Health & Nutrition Blog

Your body is a temple. I’m just here to make sure you’re not feeding it nonsense.
